Chelsea FC vs Everton - EPL - 04/12/2010 : Match Preview

Home fixture , 15:00 local time.

Preview and team news:

-Chelsea
●The champions have been rattled by recent events and fixtures that have nearly all worked against them. We have had a drastic dip in morale and form, from a rather untouchable position to a very fragile one, just in the span of four weeks. The loss of Michael Essien, Frank Lampard and John Terry has been the understandable cause of this but the failure to get three points from games that we have dominated at times seems rather cursed. We lost our first position to the scums and are now in 2nd place and our form is the 13th best out of the 20 teams. This seems to be the last available fixture to get our spirits raised for the tough fixtures coming up in December and we have it all to play for to fight back and stay in the title race.

●Frank Lampard and John Terry have been training this week, with Terry looking to be the more likely one to play. The best to be expected from Frankie would be 20 minutes maximum but even the chances of that seem low after recent news. Essien returns after his suspension and is fit to play. Yuri Zhirkov who has been having a small injury crisis of his own behind the scenes has also recovered well but Alex might be out for this one if he cannot delay his surgery any further.

-Everton
●Everton meanwhile have been having a crisis of their own. They are the 18th team form wise and the 16th team position wise , in the league. David Moyes’ side have failed to convert draws into victories this season, with the defence and attack sharing the blame. As usual, they have had to depend on goals from Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta to get them out of a tight spot, with the pair scoring 11 goals between them in the League.Everton tend to pick up speed after Christmas but they are not a side to be taken lightly under any circumstances.

●David Moyes will welcome Phil Neville back into the squad after the defender recovered from his knee injury who is also unfortunately Gary Neville's brother. Mikel Arteta is suspended following his red card against West Brom last week which is a big boost for us. Moyes might play an attacking midfield three comprising Seamus Coleman, Tim Cahill and Steven Pienaar and play Yakubu as the lone striker up front.
