Chelsea FC vs Liverpool FC - EPL - 06/02/2011 : Match Preview

16:00 local time at Stamford Bridge.

-Preview and Team news

●Chelsea
We have shown hints of the old untouchable Chelsea, especially in the last match against Sunderland. It was one of the games where the scoreline does not tell the story. 3 wins out of the last 3 fixtures have drastically improved the form of the champions from a measly 17th place to now 3rd, with just Arsenal and United grabbing more points from the last six fixtures. The last time round that these two teams met , Torres and of all people Lucas stole the show but how the times have changed!. It is a must win for the blues, a win will take us back to 3rd place and just two points off 2nd place Arsenal.

Team selection for Chelsea has changed for obvious reasons. Fernando Torres and David Luiz are set to both have their debuts on sunday. Good news on Alex who has been recovering well, no good news yet thus far for Yossi and Zhirkov. Carlo Ancelotti has got great options and the chance to put out a devastatingly good side, but it all depends on the vision of the eyebrow.

●Liverpool
Liverpool themselves have been enjoying a rather good run in form. Dalgish has managed 3 wins in the last 3 games, although from my point of view it has not been the most convincing of victories. Liverpool have been scrappy and lack the same quality that the other teams are showing. It seems to just be a case of the impact of Kenny's arrival at Anfield that has been pushing the Liverpool players. They are sitting on 7th place and are on the rise and a victory against Chelsea is also cruical for them, and for their fans who would love to rub it in.

Luiz Suarez who made his debut last night is set to play again. Andy Carrol has been reported to have a thigh strain but he is more than likely to have his debut against Chelsea. Amazingly apart from what last minute drop outs their may be, there is no other Liverpool player out of this match right now. Even Carragher returns from an injury but does El Nino know him too well?
