Chelsea
Chelsea reclaimed their position as the most in-from team in the premier league by securing the midweek win over Fulham. The blues had moved onto 5th place after the defeat to Liverpool but after a rather nervy game at the Bridge, all 3 points were enough to give us a 4 point lead with some help from Manchester City.
Anelka and Alex who missed out against Fulham due to minor injuries will be fit for the weekend. John Terry is also fit to play,
He picked up a knock against Fulham but luckily it was nothing major. Not much can be said about Frank Lampard though. He has started to train but Carlo seems to be taking extra precautions in his case, although he might play against Sunderland. Carlo has also said that he would like to appeal against Essien's red card which was pretty harsh from a clearly bias ref.
Chelsea have been grinding down their goal average after such an immense goal difference in the opening part of the season, Sunderland might just help to fix that.
Sunderland
Sunderland meanwhile have been going on a very steady pace this season. Currently 8th on the table, they have only lost twice this season, but its the lack of wins that are keeping them down. They don't have the home advantage this time around though. Their away form has not been anything spectacular. They have a total of 4 points in all away games as a result of just getting draws. Competition between Sunderland and Chelsea has rather been one sided in recent fixtures , but this time they are in a better position than before, especially with players like Gyan, Al-Muhammadi and Onuoha in decent form.
They do miss out on Bent, who single handily has carried Sunderland for some time now but with the addition of Gyan, he can be relied upon less. Other injuries include Mensah, Reid,Campbell and Meyler.
